Meet the Founder

Hi! I’m Olivia, the founder of Piece of Mind.

I believe we never outgrow our need for play, challenge, or connection.

While studying psychology at the University of Waterloo, I began to truly understand the power of play. But I also noticed that so many people miss out because activities aren't designed with their needs in mind.

I kept coming back to puzzles. They can reduce stress, keep the mind active, bring people together, and feel incredibly rewarding.

The problem is that most options are either overwhelmingly difficult with hundreds of tiny pieces or giant floor puzzles made for toddlers. There isn't much in between.

I thought about older adults, people navigating illnesses and injuries, and people experiencing changes in memory, vision, or dexterity. Often, the people who could benefit most are the ones least considered.

So I started wondering how puzzles could be reimagined to welcome more people to the table. I wanted to design a puzzle for everyone that most brands don't design for.

In 2024, during my last term at school, I brought this idea to GreenHouse, the University of Waterloo’s social impact incubator. I had no background in business or manufacturing... just a strong belief that this needed to exist.

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of learning from my community and collaborating with a talented artist to create a puzzle that truly feels approachable, dignified, and enjoyable from start to finish.

Piece of Mind is rooted in the belief that more people deserve to experience the joy of puzzling. So, we kept all the best parts of puzzling and removed all the barriers.

Whether you’re a lifelong puzzler, discovering a new hobby for the first time, or searching for the perfect gift, thank you for being here.

And this is just the beginning, so if you like what you see, stick around. There’s more to come soon…
